Winning the Great Award for Best Photography: A dream come true.
I am beyond thrilled to share that I’ve been awarded the Great Award for Best Photography at a prestigious national contest, hosted by West Geopark in collaboration with National Geographic Portugal. This recognition means the world to me, especially as it celebrates the beauty of our natural heritage—a subject close to my heart.
The Winning Shot
The photo that earned this recognition captures a moment where time feels almost infinite. It shows a massive rock plate etched with ancient dinosaur footprints, while a person walks by, offering a striking contrast and a profound sense of scale. The footprints, remnants of creatures that roamed this earth millions of years ago, remind us of the deep history embedded in our landscapes. I wanted to create an image that not only tells a story about the past but also connects it to the present—highlighting how small we are in the grand timeline of our planet.
A Surprise Beyond Words
I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to win! As all the category winners were being announced, I felt incredibly honored just to be part of such an amazing group of photographers. Then, to my complete surprise, they revealed the Great Award for Best Photography, and it was for my photo! I was in disbelief—I couldn’t believe my work had been chosen as the best among so many talented photographers.
The Event and What’s Next
I’ll be sharing the winning photograph along with some snapshots from the event where I received the award. The recognition has truly energized me, and I’m more excited than ever to continue exploring new projects and stories. This award marks a significant moment in my photography journey, but it’s also just the beginning. There are many more stories to tell and landscapes to capture, and I can’t wait to see where this path leads.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way—this wouldn’t have been possible without you!
