There’s something magical about the first light of day. It’s a moment when the world feels untouched, wrapped in silence and anticipation. This photo was taken during one of those mornings, a sunrise so serene it felt as if time had paused.

The soft glow of the rising sun, the gentle hum of nature waking up, and the crisp air filled with earthy scents created an atmosphere of pure peace. In that moment, these two Common Starlings perched atop a lichen-covered rock seemed to mirror my own quiet awe, sharing in the beauty of a new day.

The small glowing specks visible throughout the image come from the sea mist reflecting the first light of sunrise, giving the scene an almost dreamlike feeling and reinforcing the stillness of that morning.

I’ve always loved sunrises for their purity and their ability to ground us in the present moment. For me, this image is a celebration of that silent connection we can feel with the world around us, where stillness speaks louder than words, and nature reminds us to simply breathe and exist.
